Earnings Per Click Getting Started Guide

Earnings per click (EPC) is the average of how much money you make every time someone taps your link.

You don't actually get paid for clicks. You still earn commission when people buy. EPC just spreads those earnings across all your clicks. That keeps you focused on the two things you control: what you link to and where you link to it.

Most creators look at how many people buy. That number can fool you. A store where lots of people buy cheap things can pay you less than a store where a few people buy expensive things.

Here's what 1,000 clicks can look like at two stores that pay the same 10%:

Metric Store A Store B
Clicks 1,000 1,000
Orders 30 6
Avg order $50 $500
You earn $150 $300
EPC 15¢ 30¢

Store A gets more sales. Store B pays you twice as much per click.

EPC shows you that in one number. Higher EPC means more money from the same clicks.

How to find your EPC

Start with the stores you link to. That's where you have the most clicks, so the numbers are the most trustworthy.

1. Download your numbers. In your affiliate dashboard, find your results by store (sometimes called “websites” or “retailers”). Pick the last 90, 180 days (or full year) and download it as a spreadsheet.

2. Find your overall EPC. Before you remove anything, add up everything you earned across all stores. Divide it by all your clicks. This is your average, and it's your number to beat.

3. Remove small stores. Delete any store with fewer than 500 clicks. With fewer clicks, one or two random orders can make a store look much better or worse than it is. Note - if you're still a small creator, the lowest I'll ever go is 100 clicks per retailer.

4. Find each store's EPC. Add a new column. For each store, divide what you earned by its clicks. In Google Sheets, it looks like =Earned/Clicks.

5. Sort from highest to lowest. Put the highest EPC at the top.

That's it. The stores at the top are where your clicks are worth the most.

What to do with it

Send more of your clicks to the stores at the top of your list.

Every store above your overall EPC pulls your average up. Every store below it pulls it down. Try to beat your average every time you link. When your average goes up, you take home more money from the same number of clicks.

When you shop for things to post, start with your top stores. When the same item is sold at more than one store, link to the one with the higher EPC. You're recommending the same things. You're just earning more for them.

Redo this every 90 days. Your list will change with the seasons, sales, and new stores.
